About Us
We’ve Been Cooking Maple Syrup for 4 Generations…
100 % Pure Maple Syrup
Nothing is added to our Maple Syrup it is 100% Pure! No pesticides, or sneaky “flavouring”… It’s simple, pure, and delicious. Just like nature intended it.
Graded By Nature
You may wonder how we come up with all of the different flavours (or grades)… Though we would love to take credit, the colour changes from Golden to Very Dark as the season warms up. This contributes to the more robust flavours.
We Cook With Wood
We use 100% wood to cook our maple sap down to maple syrup. Considering how much wood we have in our bush, we prefer using the old time method over propane, natural gas, oil, or electricity
Pure Maple Syrup From Our Family Run Sugar Bush
John Wagler grew up in the sugar bush with his father Norman and grandfather Amos on their family farm. He learned about the magic of making Maple Syrup and all the hard work that’s involved. This makes John the 3rd generation in his family to cook Maple Syrup.
But it doesn’t stop there. With the intention of passing the skills & wisdom down through his family, John & his wife Jeneve included their sons, William & Joseph, into the Sand Hills Maple Products venture in 2018 when they made the business official.
They’ve been producing Maple Syrup together since 2003 with 17 acres of hardwood maple bush and have approximately 1600 taps.
Their trees usually average 1.5 litres of syrup per tap. They use a Reverse Osmosis system to take some of the water out of the sap, which helps speed up the cooking process, but still leaving all the nutrients in the sap.
The Wagler Family really enjoy their time together in the sugar bush. They appreciate all of the help they get from the family when it comes to tapping the trees and checking the pipeline before they start cooking. Everyone gets involved in the process! Even the grandchildren get excited when they help collect sap from the pails.
In 2024 they purchased a food trailer and starting making a pancake & sausage breakfast for the public to enjoy right at the sugar bush. There is so much to see and learn at the bush. We look forward to seeing you!
